HOPE-FX
1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem of some kind each year in England and 1 in 6 people report experiencing a common mental health problem (like anxiety and depression) in any given week in England according to Mind.
FEL has created a unique program “Hope FX” based on supporting people that are sufferiebng from mental health issues by using creativity and fashion as a form of expression.
Partnering with North London Mental Health Partnership Hope FX commenced in September 23 with five participants. During the six month program the participants leant stitching and pattern skills, design skills, coordinated a photo shoot in London (thanks to The Bureau), printed T shirts using Kornit Digital Technology and launched their Ts in the FC Designer Collective at 113-115 Fonthill Road, N4 3HH.
Founder Jenny Holloway commented “Hope FX has worked because it’s been a positive intervention with NHS mental health trusts including SLaM. Particular thanks to Sir Normal Lamb, Jinjer Kandola and Dr Nina Brown who have been so supportive on new ways forward for mental health well being. Seeing how the participants have grown in confidence, improved their communication skills and have learnt industry based skills that can lead to a new career direction has been so fulfilling for everyone. This is just the start of Hope FX and we look forward to the next chapter!”
